Chakuli pitha (In Odia: ଚକୁଳି ପିଠା) is a flat rice-based fermented cake. This is popular in the regions of Odisha and West Bengal in India. It is prepared and served during festivals as well as normal days.
I love to have Chakuli pitha with different combinations and here I'm sharing some of those.
Chakuli Chicken:
For some people, chicken might be a beard combination, but I love it. Not only me, but it's quite popular in Odisha actually. I've not remembered the date when we had prepared this, but for sure it would be there on my Instagram account.
Chakuli Ghuguni:
Ghuguni (ଘୁଗୁନି) or Matar Curry (ମଟର ତରକାରୀ) is one of my favorite curries since my childhood. In those days, I used to eat all curries with Aloo, so, it was the 2nd most favorite one. I can eat Chakuli, Rice, and any other items with Ghuguni.
Chakuli with Jaggery:
Guda (ଗୁଡ଼) or Jaggery is also my favorite because, in my childhood, I was not able to eat spicy food, so these were my friends. Now, I can eat spicy food, but still, I love to have Chakuli Pitha with Jaggery.
Chakuli or Plain Dosa with Chutney:
In Odisha, most of the time we used to prepare thick Chakuli pitha and these thin Chakuli are called Dosa here. But when I went to Bangalore, I came to know about different types of Dosa or Dose. You can find more than 99 verities of Dose there and those are really tasty. After eating Dose there, Dosas in Odisha may not impress you easily. By the way, this not Dosa, this is Chakuli pitha which we used to prepare with the same amount of Phaseolus Mungo or Biri (ବିରି) and Rice only. When I was staying in an Odia PG, this was our breakfast for Saturday. By the way, I don't know how to prepare this chutney, but it's always tasty.
Chakuli and Banana:
This is quite similar to Guda and Chakuli. Because we have to prepare Chakuli only, then eat with Banana.
N.B.: All these photographs are taken by me and some of these are also shared on my Instagram and Facebook pages.
